What We Check on Your Sports Goods
Every order is sampled to ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 AQL tables. Each defect is graded critical, major, or minor, so you get a clear pass, fail, or hold result — not a guess.
Materials and components
Fabric, foam padding, metal tubes, plastics and rubber against the approved sample — plus zippers, buckles, velcro, grips and valves.
Dimensions and weight
Size points measured against your spec sheet. Unit weight checked where it matters — dumbbells, bats, rackets, weighted gear.
Construction and assembly
Welds, joints, bolts and fasteners on frames and benches. Stitching or bonding on sewn and padded items.
Artwork and branding
Prints, logos and colors against your approved artwork — position, size and adhesion included.
Function checks
Moving parts, adjustment and locking mechanisms, resistance settings, inflation — whatever the product is supposed to do, done on samples.
On-site physical tests
Static load where your spec calls for it, seam and bond pulls, colorfastness rubs, and carton drop tests.
Labels and markings
Size, country of origin, warnings, care instructions, and barcode readability for your destination market.
Packing and assortment
Quantity, size and color mix, retail packaging, carton marks, and total count against your PO. How we classify defects

When Buyers Book a Sports Goods Inspection

First order with a new supplier
You have never seen their production line. An inspection tells you whether the bulk goods match the sample they sent you.
A repeat order after a quality slip
Last shipment came back with complaints. A mid-production check catches the same problem while there is still time to fix it.
Stock headed to Amazon FBA
Amazon rejects cartons that are overweight or badly labeled. We check FNSKU barcodes, polybag warnings and carton specs before the goods leave.
After rework or a failed inspection
The factory says they fixed it. A re-inspection confirms the rework actually happened — on the actual goods, not a golden sample.
Defects We Catch Before You Pay the Balance
These are the problems that show up again and again in sports goods production. Each one is photographed and listed in your report.
- Weak welds or loose bolts on frames and benches
- Foam or padding that tears at the seams
- Stitching that skips or breaks on straps and apparel
- Wrong weight or size versus the spec sheet
- Prints and logos that rub off or fade early
- Valves that leak on balls and inflatables
- Missing warnings or wrong care labels
- Short quantity or wrong color mix in cartons
How Every Defect Is Graded
You set the AQL limits when booking. The inspector counts defects against them, so the result is a number, not an opinion.
Critical
Anything that can hurt the user or break import rules — a sharp edge on a metal frame, a broken needle left in a sewn strap, mold, or a banned substance. One critical defect fails the lot.
AQL 0
Major
Anything that makes the product hard to sell or unsafe to rely on — a bench that wobbles under load, a ball that will not hold air, a wrong size label.
AQL 2.5
Minor
Small flaws most buyers accept in low numbers — a scratch on a tube, a loose thread, a slight shade difference inside the lot.
AQL 4.0Performance Tests Done On Site
Sports goods fail in the hands of the end user, not in the carton. These checks happen during the inspection, on the samples pulled from your lot.
Static load
Load-bearing equipment checked against its rated capacity — commonly at twice the rated load where your spec calls for it.
Stretch and elastic recovery
Sportswear fabrics, resistance bands and straps stretched and released, then checked for permanent deformation.
Air permeability and moisture-wicking
Spot checks on performance fabrics against the agreed method. How sportswear performance is tested
Seam and bond strength
Pull checks on straps, handles, stitched panels and bonded soles or pads.
Colorfastness rubs
Printed fabric and coated surfaces rubbed dry and wet, so logos do not end up on the user's skin.
Inflation and leakage
Balls and inflatables inflated to spec pressure and checked for valve and seam leaks.

Arrival and check-in
The inspector signs in at the factory with GPS verification, at the address you gave us.
Sample pull
Cartons are picked at random following the AQL sampling plan you approved. The factory does not choose them.
Measurements and tests
Size, weight, function and the agreed physical tests run on every sample, with photos taken as they go.
Packing and labels
Retail boxes, warnings, barcodes and export cartons checked against your files.
Defect review on the spot
Every defect found is shown to the factory the same day, so nothing in the report surprises them later.
Result and report
You hear the result the same day. The full photo report follows within 24 hours.

How much does a sports goods inspection cost?
We quote per man-day, based on where the factory is, how big the order is, and what you want checked. The price you get in writing already includes travel and weekend work — nothing is added later.
How fast can an inspector be on-site?
Within 48 hours in any province of China, once we have your PO, product specs, factory address, and the date you need.
What sampling standard do you use?
ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 (ISO 2859-1) AQL sampling tables. General inspection level II is the default. If you want a different level or tighter AQL limits, say so when booking.
Can you load-test gym and fitness equipment on-site?
Yes, when your spec defines a rated load. The inspector runs a static load check — commonly at twice the rated load where the spec calls for it — and records the result with photos. Destructive or instrumented tests beyond on-site scope are coordinated with a partner laboratory.
What happens if the inspection fails?
You get a fail or hold result with photos and the full defect list. Then it is your call: ask the factory to rework, book a re-inspection, or negotiate. We report — you decide.
Can you check Amazon FBA requirements on sports goods?
Yes. We check FNSKU barcode readability, polybag warning labels, carton weights, and carton markings against Amazon's requirements before your stock goes to the fulfillment center.
Do you inspect sports goods outside China?
Yes. UTS works in more than 10 Asian countries, including Vietnam, India, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Korea. The same checklist and report format apply.
Can you check a sample before mass production starts?
Yes. A sample evaluation catches spec and material problems before the factory starts bulk production. Send us the sample, or have the factory ship it to us, and we check it against your spec sheet.
